Chai

When we decided to get a Bengal, the search almost immediately became overwhelming. We weren’t interested in pedigrees, or breeding or showing our pet, we just wanted to add to our family. I was drawn to Lori’s site because the main focus was the well being of the cat, especially the family relationship between cats and their humans.

We got an 8 month old Bengal who we now call Chai. Lori was extremely helpful and patient in teaching us how to get to know each other. Her suggestion of keeping him in a smaller space before opening up the house to him really proved to be key in helping him (and us) to become confident with this adjustment. Chai was purring and nuzzling us within a few minutes of opening his carrier in our master bath; and over the next several days, as he became more confident, he really began to open up and show us who he was. It has been a true delight.

We are experienced cat owners, but let me tell you……a Bengal is not a “cat”. Lori has been an INVALUABLE source of information; her tips and suggestions really made this whole process successful much more quickly than we could have done on our own. We would highly recommend her to anyone interested in a Bengal; but ESPECIALLY to a first time Bengal owner. 5 stars!!!

Over the past 7 years I have fell in love with Poolside Cats. I first reached out to Lori looking for a responsible breeder of both Savannah’s and Bengal’s as a companion for my cat (American Domestic). After viewing Lori’s website with descriptions on how she raises her cats, the health testing done on every breeding prospect, and the requirements for any future owner in her contract was my first indication that I found a responsible and reliable breeder who is not in this business for profit, but breeds these amazing cats for the preservation of the breed standard and for the love of the breed as well.

Over the years I have seen Lori grow her cattery and continue to improve the health and genetics of her bloodlines in order to produce, not just gorgeous, but structurally sound, healthy cats with amazing personalities. Lori knows each one of her cats inside and out and I have learned to trust Lori’s professional advice when adding a new member to my household. This also applied to any day to day questions (litter box, socializing, nutrition) in order to give my cats the best care I can. Speak to Lori about what you are looking for in a future cat and your lifestyle and Lori will pick the best match for you. Trust her judgement because no one knows her cats better than her.

I have purchased both kittens and adults from Poolside. One of the great things about buying an adult cat is you know exactly what you are getting as far as looks and personality are concerned. Kittens are adorable and super fun but we cannot predict exactly how their personality will grow, unlike a young adult who is fully developed and mature. As much as I love all the cats I have purchased from Lori, the one that stole my heart was a 2 year old Bengal, Milo. No one could compare to his amazing personality and fit my crazy lifestyle. I’m currently getting my 7th cat, yes 7th from Lori, even though I said by the 6th I was cut off, there is something very addicting to owning a Poolside and you can never stop at just one. They will bond fiercely to you and never leave your side. The day you bring home a Poolside Bengal or Savannah you will become crazy in love with the breed and have a life long companion.

General Grievous

Lori,
We cannot express our joy and love for our baby boy and we are so thankful for all that you did to get him ready for us. We were amazed with his knowledge of litter box use as a kitten and his ability to play fetch. He learned quick to respond to his name and our voices. General Grievous is my first cat and Donovan’s first pet…ever.

Donovan was surprised with the vast amount of love he has for Grievous – never thinking he would have such a strong emotional attachment to a cat. I was just in awe of the difference between animals and was so happy to have a cat (not just any cat but this special breed raised so wonderfully by you) as a pet. Obviously neither of us really knew what we were getting ourselves into. Being newlyweds we were in a place to start our new lives together and bringing our new Bengal baby home a couple months after our wedding was such a wonderful way to start our new adventure. From the moment he came home with us there was an instant connection and we really feel like a little family. Our Bengal really does have his own distinct personality. He is filled with spunk and is very loving. He vocally lets us know what he likes and doesn’t like and is so playful and active. HE REALLY IS LIKE OUR KID. I have even grown to recognize his different meows and what he wants. Both Donovan and I have little humans in our families and he has done so well around children and new people. He has traveled very well with us which I was nervous about, but he has such a great personality I wasn’t surprised he was very adaptive. Everyone who has met General Grievous cannot stop commenting on his beautiful coat and his fantastic personality. We get compliments about his litter box use, lack of odor (which I need to specifically point out – we LOVE that he has a raw diet. Not only for the lack of odor but for his overall health. We admire you for making the decision, even if it’s hard work, to take such great care of all your litters and parent cats) his outstanding athleticism and how well mannered he is. My family has always been skeptical of cats and not very fond of them.. but they ALL have absolutely fallen in love with our baby…
So in short, we are SO happy with our first cat and are glad we made the decision to go with one of your Poolside Bengals!!!

Thank you, Lori!

Tomas, Lex & Felipe

Lori’s bengals have brought so much excitement, joy and love to our home. From my first conversation with her when we got our first fur baby-Tomas- I knew that Lori treats each and every one of her kittens like family.

We were unable to stop at just 1….so 4 months later, we got our 2nd ….Lex….

Fast-forward another 9 months and along comes Felipe….the “baby” of the bunch (who ironically outweighs the other two)

Each one of them have their own unique personalities but all are full on rambunctious energy and unconditional love.

Come to think of it….its about time for a 4th!!

Irving

I can’t thank Lori enough for helping me find my sweet boy, Irving. He is truly one of the sweetest cats I have ever met.

Before I contacted Lori, I read all of the testimonials and knew that she was the right person to come to. She is so involved with making sure that her cats are going to their forever homes, which I think sets a great example for other breeders to follow. I learned so much about the breed from emailing back-and-forth, as well as the helpful articles she has posted on her site.
Lori is very honest and will not sell a cat unless she knows it’s going to the right home. I initially contacted her about adopting one of her seal mink adults, which she quickly advised against when I mentioned that my dad has allergies (I am in college, but come home for the summer months). She was very detailed and taught me about how the snow breeds have Siamese, which can still cause allergies. Therefore she doesn’t guarantee that any of her cats carrying the snow gene are hypoallergenic. I am so thankful that she was honest about the allergy concern and didn’t sell me the seal mink—although I’m sure he’s lovely! It scares me to think that someone else might have sold me a snow regardless.

Lori and I continued talking and found the cat that was best suited for my dad’s allergies and myself. On April 30th, I brought Irving home! He is breathtakingly beautiful and has the sweetest personality to match. I can’t thank Lori enough for everything she has done. I wouldn’t go anywhere else to buy one of these amazing cats!

Thanks, Kate ( first time PoolsideCat Pet Parent! )

Today is Irving’s birthday and I wanted to send you a birthday update!!! ❤️
He has completely warmed up to the house and follows me everywhere I go. He loves his snuggle time and has become friends with the dogs. His new favorite thing is chasing lizards and watching birds from our caged in pool deck! He sleeps with me every night at the foot of my bed and is a total sweetheart. He lets me trim his nails without a problem (I think because he knows he gets extra pets)! Today he weighed 14.2 pounds!!! He’s a very big boy, but still athletic as ever and sure can run!

I love this boy so much Lori!
Thank you for everything

I Love all my Poolside Cats!

WOW! I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I got my first two ‘PoolsideBengal’. I now have ‘five’. Like Lori would say, (Poolside Bengal breeder/friend) you just can’t have one. How true that is. Lol

After five years of being in the Bengal world of breeders and cat shows I have come to find that I picked the best Bengal breeder you could find ‘Poolside Bengals’ now PoolsideCats. Lori breeds not only for beauty but for personality in a very big way. I have never in my life owned cats with such great quality. After you purchase a kitty from Lori the value of that kitty goes from what you paid to priceless. Take it from me this is sooo true.

On a daily bases they amaze me with there intelligence and of cause make me laugh with their fun loving ways.

Have questions??? I urge you to go to PoolsideCats.com to have all your questions answered and much much more.

*Remember when purchasing a Bengal it’s sometimes better to get an older kitten. I had the experience of doing both. Found that it’s a whole lot better not only for the kitten but for you. One of many reasons why when you visit “PoolsideCats.com”

I had once seen a t-shirt saying..’If it’s not a Bengal it’s just an ordinary house cat.’ I could’ve said it better.

JJ Hornabee, Cubby & Romeo

JJ Hornabee

Good afternoon Lori,
I meant to write you sooner and give you an update on JJ. But business has been very busy and demanding a lot of my time. Our eight year old female Bengal needed a companion, so my homework after work was to spend hours on google looking for a retiree Bengal from a reputable breeder in Florida, I came across many, but your webpage got my attention because of your animals. I immediately knew you had the quality we were looking for. Two weeks later were driving up north to up JJ.

First let me tell you how amazed we are with JJ’s personality, we were thinking of giving him a new name but the way he responds to JJ is just like a dog, so he is keeping it. I think deep inside he things he is a dog, he follows me around the house and likes to be pet all the time, unlike my other cat Agatha that we got elsewhere, her personality is just like a cat and under her own terms.
I am so glad we found you, meeting yo was so nice and how you answered all of my questions with patience and knowledge. I know I already told when we met, but let me repeat it, I couldn’t find anything near similar to the quality of your animals! The package that you gave us with all of the clinical history of JJ was impressive! We felt we had adopted a child. We can clearly see the amount of time and love you dedicate to your animals, you will be getting referrals from us very soon!

Thank you a million times!!!

Alfonso – (Multi PoolsideCat Pet Parent)

As for Cubby, she is the sweetest as honey, it is amazing how sweet she is.  She even rolls for us to touch her, she does ask for much more affection than JJ or Agatha.
I also noticed the difference in energy and how she climbs the 86″ cat tree like nothing.
Once again we are extremely happy that we reached out to you for the second time! Like I told you, you are simply the best out there in your field, period!

Mandi

Lori,
Thank you for our amazing baby girl Mandi.  She is the most beautiful, playful, smart and sweet baby.  She is far more than I expected.  She is the wonderful cat she is because of you. I know that because since we brought her home you and I have shared phone calls and emails every day. You have given me advice and help not only with Mandi but for all my animals.  You have been available to me anytime and have taken so much of your time to ensure everything has gone perfectly for our new addition. There is no way we could thank you enough. When my husband asked how much I paid for her I expected his normal reaction to everything I buy but his response was that she was worth every penny.. and she is. Thank you for our baby:)  we love being a part of the poolside family and I have a feeling we will end up with a few more of your babies:)
With Love,
Sara, Mandi and family:)

Sabu

Hey Lori,

We just wanted to thank you for our little tough guy, Sabu.

As you know, I had worked with Florida Bengal Rescue, and was fostering three Bengals. The old joke is true: What do you call someone fostering a pet? and the answer is, “A pet owner.”

If you recall, we had lost Diva to lymphoma. I have a good friend who had purchased two kittens from you, and I had always been impressed with the quality of those cats. Contacting you seemed to be the absolute right thing to do. And are we glad we did.

Your cattery is wonderful, and the cats are healthy and happy. And although Sabu was a bit more expensive than our last three Bengals (they were free), he was also socialized and wonderfully friendly. The foster cats were feral (and you just haven’t lived until you live with a feral Bengal). Their medical history was unknown. One of them hid inside the box spring of our bed for 3 months before she would venture out when we were at home or awake.

What a contrast to your kittens! Wow! They are all friendly, curious, and have personalities as big as all outdoors. And the selection is unbelievable. We went to see you, having chosen three “Finalists” from their photos and descriptions. We left with a kitten we hadn’t even considered, and he is the best cat that has ever owned us. Whether he is playing fetch, walking on the top edge of the bedroom door, venturing into the shower with us, or sleeping on our laps, he is simply amazing.

If anyone is concerned about the price of one of your kitten, they shouldn’t be. You will spend WAY more than the initial price on food and vet expenses over the life of the cat. We spend TWICE what Sabu cost in 24 hours at the vet, trying to save Diva. In the end, the absolute BEST insurance is to get a quality cat that has been vetted properly since it was in utero, socialized with a loving human as well as other cats, spayed or neutered, and given permanent shots before leaving your cattery. When someone does that, they can begin to enjoy their new baby IMMEDIATELY. There is no “Breaking In” period, no socialization, no taming, no litter box training. They are truly ready to rock your world from day one.

Thank you very much. We will be back. Like the potato chip, you can’t have just one.

With gratitude,

Karen and Gary

Hi Lori,

In the fall of 2015 my boyfriend and I adopted Dexter from Lori, a mink kitten. I had such a bad experience with another breeder in Florida (Bellarista Bengals) that I unfortunately lost my kitten while she was getting neutered. I found Lori her website and we spoke on the phone for so long about the importance of quality breeding and the healthcare of Bengals. All her knowledge comforted me so much, and also it convinced me that now, and ever in my life, I will only adopt a kitten from her, so I know they are healthy and socialized. When I adopted Dexter she provided me with an amazing care package and as well her raw food for my new kitten. Once home I placed Dexter in a room so he could get comfortable and feel safe. He started calling me and once I got to him he climbed on my lap like a baby. After eating some of Lori’s food he went exploring the house and within an hour he was sleeping with my boyfriend super comfortable on the couch while he was watching football. Dexter was so socialized that he didn’t needed time to feel at home. He was acting like he lived there longer than us:) Dexter is a very large cat. He is so sweet and human. Also he is very attached to me and in the house he goes where I go. We moved to another apartment in Miami with two floors and he loves to run up and down the stairs. Also he enjoys his catwheel and trees very much. Every night we watch tv together and sleep together. In the morning when I shower he always wants to play with the water and he keeps talking to me. I just cant even explain in words how much I love him. My love for him is so strong that I see him as my child. I would do anything for him. He is my everything. I moved from The Netherlands to the USA and I felt homesick quite often. My boyfriend got me Dexter and I haven’t felt homesick since then. Dexter turned my house into a home. I am very thankful to Lori for educating me about breeders, care, and also for selling me Dexter.

Thank you with all my heart!

If you are looking for an intelligent, fun loving cat who can be taught how to fetch and do other dog like tricks, then the Bengal Cat is what you want.  They also like water and they may even swim for you.

I can’t say enough about the Bengals.  I usually favor long hair cats, but my husband always wanted a Bengal so I gave in.  Now, I wish I’d given in sooner.

We could not have picked a better kind of cat to have fun with and who makes us laugh on a daily basis.  They are the sweetest and the most devilish kitties we ever had.  (And we had our share.)  Their coats are unbelievably soft.  (Like velvet.)  And their colors are so beautiful.  Photos of the cats do not give them justice.  You have to see one in person.

Lori of “Poolside Cats” is by far the best breeder I ever encountered.  What she puts into her cats doesn’t compare to what other breeders do.  She goes more than the extra mile for her brew.  When I bought my two from her, not only did I walk away with two healthy cats, I gained a friend and my very own “cat whisper” who is on call 24 – 7.  Her knowledge of cats compares just short of a Vet.  The only difference is Lori doesn’t have a Doctor’s Degree.  She is always there for me and is very patient with her answers.

So if you are looking for Bengals, “Poolside Cats” is definitely the place to go.  You get more than your money’s worth.  You get a heart full of love from your new companion and a friend (Lori) you can share your kitty stories with.

Most important, if you don’t have the energy that a Bengal requires on a daily basis, then get two to keep each other amused.  I know I did and I’m NOT sorry I did.
